The Sleep Lab
The Sleep Laboratory founded by Dr. Jacques Montplaisir is located on the 5th floor of the J wing of the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. The Lab shares the same installations (5 sleep recording rooms) and research staff of the CARSM clinic. Therefore, detailed informations about the Lab can be found in the section The Clinic.
The Pain, Sleep and Trauma Lab
The laboratory was founded and is directed by Dr. Gilles Lavigne. It is located on the first floor of the E wing of the hospital. It consists of 2 bedrooms fully equipped for polysomnography, 2 psychophysiology laboratories, as well as one office for analysis. Each space contains all the necessary materials needed to conduct the various research projects being carried out in collaboration with the students, postdocs, Mrs. Christiane Manzini, as well as Drs. Jacques Montplaisir, Paola Lanfranchi, Jean-Marc Chauny, Raoul Daoust, Ronald Denis, Jean-François Giguère, Pierre Mayer, Guy Rouleau et Nelly Huynh. The lab’s vision is to understand the interaction between sleep and pain in patients with musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and either acute or chronic post traumatic pain.

The Dream and Nightmare Lab
|
The Dream and Nightmare Laboratory was founded in 1991 and is headed by Dr. Tore Nielsen. It is located also on the 5th floor of the J wing of the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. It has two rooms for recording sleep a virtual reality room and a bathroom.

The Chronobiology Lab
The Chronobiology Laboratory founded by Dr. Marie Dumont is headed
by Drs. Marie Dumont and Julie Carrier. It is located on the 5th floor of the J wing of the
Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. The three rooms are equipped
with lab
airlocks allowing temporal isolation of the subjects. The lab has been dedicated
since its inception to the study of biological rhythms: research themes include sleep-wake
cycles, sleep-related hormone secretion, the effects of night work, the
effects of aging and light exposure, etc.

The Molecular Sleep Physiology Lab
The laboratory of molecular physiology of sleep
was founded in 2010 by Dr. Valérie Mongrain. It is located on
the first floor of the Biomedical Center of the Hospital (K wing). It has the latest
technology for recording sleep in rodents and is also equipped for
telemetry. The laboratory allows continuous and simultaneous recording
of EEG, locomotor activity and body temperature for 12 animals at once.
The laboratory also includes a 'wetlab' with benches for molecular
biology protocols.
